Bowden Pillars Future

Bowden Pillars Future is a regenerative project being created on 123 acres just outside Totnes, Devon, UK We are applying for planning for a village (of up to 50 low impact dwellings) that supports genuinely low-carbon living. We already have a new nature reserve that helps store carbon and restore ecosystems, and a regenerative farm. Our mission is to live the question: How can we create a neighbourhood in relationship with the land, where nature, community and farming grow together? This is currently the site of disused farm buildings, so uneven ground, and no facilities.

Treneath, Ogwell retrofit

We wanted to make our 1930s bungalow as energy efficient as possible whilst retaining the character of the property. The project has included ASHP, MVHR, triple glazing and external insulation with a timber frame kitchen extension. We are also updating the property to make it a comfortable home. It remains a work in progress with ongoing DIY labour of love to insulate and decorate.

Biddlecombe House Ugbrook

The house is around 500 years old but we have fitted ground source heating with underfloor heating with solar power (10KVa) and battery backup. We have retrofitted insulation that also act as a damp barrier to some walls and replacement tiled roof with bat houses replacing some tiles. Also developed terraced vegetable garden with large and small polytunnels with raised beds. Around 2 acres dedicated to wildlife

Chudleigh Eco Retrofit

We extended and retrofitted our 1960's semi detached house with an ASHP, solar PV, house batteries, insulation, double glazing and a small light well. We also have an EV plus a charging point and recently fitted a microplastic filter to our washing machine. We don’t use pesticides or herbicides and have a wildlife friendly garden, water butts, wormery & compost bin.

Hensford Farm

We have a small orchard where we produce apple juice and cider and also grow a range of fruit and vegetables using no inputs from outside the farm. We have an off grid solar pv system very much on a DIY basis and have battery storage and are in the process of constructing a new battery from pouch cells. The solar setup is pricipally used for charging two EV's. We also have had a grid tied PV system since 2011.

Oak House, Daracombe Park

All electric energy efficient Oak Framed house built in 2011 , with air to water heat pump, underfloor heating, solar thermal hot water, PV solar panels and battery. Constructed with heat retaining floor, SIPS panel walls and triple glazing. I have written a set of computer applications which measure aspects of the house's performance and schedule loads (heat pump, EV charging, etc) to minimise import and export of electricity.
